An Employers’ Perspective

  • 1. What are the contributions of the PQF in enhancing the employability of the labor force?

The PQF is a quality assured national system for the development, recognition and award of qualifications based on standards of knowledge, skills and values acquired in different ways and methods by learners and workers of a certain country. It is competency-based and labor market driven. It is assessment- based qualification recognition.

  • 2. How will the PQF benefit the employers?

The Philippine labor market is challenged by two persisting concerns: unemployment and underemployment. More people obtain qualifications that the labor market does not require, making it more difficult for employers to hire them.
Thus, the PQF will ensure that the standards and qualifications are consistent to job requirements/demand by the industry and demands. Likewise, it will provide common understanding on standards, qualifications, and levels.

  • 3. What is the role of the employers on this initiative?

The employers can support the government as we move towards aligning the curriculum with the current and future skills requirements of the industries.

  • 4. What is the importance of employers’ engagement?

The government believes that a transparent and robust process, stakeholder engagement and consultation, robust quality assurance processes, and nationally endorsed outcomes will build more trust and confidence in the system.
